MLB Best Bets: Baseball Picks for August 2nd

Finally might be getting back on the right track! 2-1 with my bets last night including that Mets -2.5 plus-money winner. I fully had the clown makeup on betting on the White Sox -1.5 at home vs Kansas City, but hey that under 8.5 hit with complete ease so it really wasn’t all bad. Last day before the trade deadline so be sure to keep an eye on starting pitchers and lineups before getting in any plays today. I’m back using BetMGM for my odds today. If you haven’t signed up with them yet, you can do so below and get a risk-free first bet up to $1,000 when you make your initial deposit. Onto the bets.

Orioles vs Rangers Over 8.5 (-120) & Rangers ML (-125)

This is really just a fade of the pitching matchup in a game with two pretty solid offenses. It’s Jordan Lyles and his 4.58 ERA going for the Orioles against Spencer Howard and his whopping 5.93 ERA for the Rangers. Neither offense has hit the ball all that well as of late, but it feels like at least one pitcher could be good for a brutal start. And despite Baltimore’s push to enter the wild card race, they traded their team leader and best player Trey Mancini to Houston in a total seller move yesterday. That has to serve as a bit of a dejecting move for the clubhouse. Let’s bet on the Rangers bats.

Cardinals -1.5 (+110) vs Cubs

It’s a solid pitching matchup in St. Louis today as the ageless wonder Adam Wainwright opposes Keegan Thompson in a rivalry matchup. The Cubs continue to struggle and could (should) see two of their best players in Willson Contreras and Ian Happ be shipped out prior to tonight’s game. Look for the Cardinals to beat on the Cubs when they’re down a bit and jump on their rivals at home. St. Louis added former Cub Jose Quintana last night and might not be done either as they’re rumored to be active before this afternoon’s deadline. Two teams in opposite directions, let’s take the plus money run line.
