Another exciting night of playoff baseball is in books, and we finished our day 1-1 with a plus-money winner thanks to Yu Darvish’s stellar outing against the rival Dodgers. The Padres evened the series behind 7 Ks from Darvish and go back to San Diego tied 1-1. The Braves and Phillies eventually got their game in, and Travis d’Arnaud had a nice day going 1-3 with an RBI but fell just short of the 2+ total bases. We have two more games on Thursday, Seattle and Houston get going this afternoon at 3:30 pm ET while the Yankees and Guardians begin at 7:30pm ET. Mariners vs Astros 1st 3 Innings Under 1.5 (+115, Caesars) & 1st 5 Innings Under 3.5 (-130, Caesars)
Going heavy with the unders here after the Mariners got off to that hot Game 1 start, but this pitching matchup screams early under to me. Luis Castillo already has a start under his belt this postseason and he absolutely dominated a potent Blue Jays lineup to the tune of 7.1 IP, 0 ER and 7 Ks in a 4-0 Seattle win. Framber Valdez has been in these spots before, he had himself a really nice postseason last year and this season he was outstanding for Houston going 17-6 with a 2.82 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.
Had Justin Verlander not been in the same rotation as Valdez, he probably would have had a little Cy Young buzz. Both of these lineups are potent, but as we see so often in playoff baseball the aces prevail and it’s often that offense comes when the bullpen takes over so let’s root for a pitchers duel early in Game 2.

Mariners F5 + 0.5 (-130, PointsBet)
The Mariners led game one pretty much the entirety of the day until Yordan went ya-ya off of Robbie Ray. Today we get the Astros unsung here Framber Valdez against Seattle’s new ace Luis Castillo and it’s a matchup that favors the Mariners in my opinion. Houston hasn’t seen Castillo since 2019 and he’s definitely improved as a pitcher since then.
Framber for what it’s worth allowed 3 runs in each of his last two outings against Seattle and I expect another rough day on the bump for him. The unfamiliarity for Houston’s hitters against Luis will play a major role here and I’d even consider taking the Tridents on the F5 moneyline. For safety reasons I’ll stick with the run line and add this to our Top MLB Prop Bets for October 13th.
