MLB Best Bets: Baseball Picks for August 3rd

Ty France pointing towards the bench

The winning ways continued last night a 2-0 card including a plus-money winner thanks to the Cardinals shutting down the Cubs and the Rangers and Orioles getting past the over 8.5 runs mark. The trade deadline has come and gone, some teams are going to be a lot more fun to bet on now and some will be fun to fade. I’m back on BetMGM for today’s bets. If you haven’t signed up with them yet you can do so below and get a risk free bet up to $1,000 on your initial wager when you make your first depoit. Onto the bets.

Mariners vs Yankees Under 7.5 (-120)

Laying a little juice here but this pitching matchup screams under. It’s a battle of two aces with the Yankees trotting out Gerrit Cole and the Mariners sending newly-acquired Luis Castillo to the mound for his first start with Seattle. Both games in this series so far have gone over in the 1-1 split, but I really think the pitching matchup prevails in the daytime at Yankee Stadium. Much of the Yankees lineup has rarely ever seen Luis Castillo, so that will be an advantage for him and the under.

Marlins -1.5 (+105) at Reds

Sticking with the pitching theme here, going to ride with arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now with Sandy Alcantara. The Marlins didn’t move much at the deadline while the Reds continued to sell. Selling is obviously never good for a clubhouse or confidence. On the opposite hand, the Marlins always have confidence with Alcantara on the mound and his sterling 1.99 ERA. Mike Minor throws for Cincy and he’s been incredibly hittable all season with an ERA in the mid 6.00s. Let’s ride with the Cy Young candidate and the Marlins early and often.
