Picking MLB games is a complex and tiring task with shaky bullpens, weird extra inning rules, and the natural state of the game. One of the best ways to attack the sport and have fun in the process, is by betting MLB player props. Just call me “The Cooler”! Saying that I’m ice cold would be an understatement as I’ve dug myself quite a hole to begin the week. I refuse to be deterred however, so here are my choices for the Best MLB Player Props for August 24th.

Best Baseball Player Props for August 24th
Shane McClanahan Over 6.5 K (-130, BetMGM) Bet 2u to win 1.54u
McClanahan has exploded onto the scene this season and is currently pitching to a 2.29 ERA and is tied with the 6th most strikeouts at 173. He comes into tonight having gone over this prop in just two of his last six starts but the matchup is tasty. Shane dominated the Angels back in May, going 7 innings and striking out 11 batters.
That really isn’t that surprising seeing how LA, Anaheim, Orange County, whatever they are, leads the bigs in strikeouts as a team. Outside of Trout and Ohtani, this team isn’t all that dangerous, and really struggles against LHP. McClanahan’s K prop is at 7.5 at a few books indicating an expected strong outing. Andrew Heaney Under 6.5 K (+104, Caesars) Bet 2u to win 2.08u
Heaney has made six starts since returning to the mound back in June and has gone over this prop in three of them. One of those starts came last Thursday against this Brewers team who Andrew struck out 10 against. Interestingly, Milwaukee tagged him for 3 HR during the 4 ⅔ innings he pitched.
I understand the Brew Crew has been striking out at a high rate this season but seeing a pitcher for the second time in a week, is definitely advantageous for the offense. Prior to that game, Heaney had struck out 5 or fewer batters in three of his previous four and had gone under tonight’s prop in four of his seven total starts on the season. With the starts coming so close together, I’ll gladly take the juice on the under.
