Happy Friday! Let’s take ourselves into the weekend with some MLB picks. We had ourselves a nice 2-1 day yesterday thanks to Zack Wheeler and the Phillies taking care of business in the 1st 5 Innings, so let’s try and build on that headed into our summer weekend. Mets vs Marlins 1st Half Under 3.5 (-138)
One Cy Young caliber starter going up against one very solid pitcher. Sandy Alcantara throws for the Marlins against Chris Bassitt for the Mets. Bassitt’s ERA sits up at 3.72, but he’s done a pretty good job keeping batters off the basepaths with a WHIP of 1.10. Anyone who pays attention to baseball knows how dominant Alcantara has been in Miami this season. Two pitchers who know these lineups, a Mets lineup that’s been struggling a bit even though they pulled off the sweep of the Yankees, let’s take the 1st 5 Under.
Yankees 1st Half -1.5 (-130) vs Royals
Really banking on the pitching matchup here, Gerrit Cole throws against Kris Bubic. That’s been a tale of two pitchers this season as Cole is an AL Cy Young contender with an ERA just above 3 and near the AL lead in strikeouts while Bubic has struggled with an ERA in the mid 5.00s. In matchups like this, and with as big of an advantage the lineup the Yankees have I like taking a shot with the Yankees early. Especially with the momentum they’re riding off the big Judge home run last night. Let’s take the Yankees early and often vs the Royals.
