Top 10 Finish: Austin Cindric +190
Cindric’s average finish of around 15th and his 7 total T10’s this season aren’t awe-inspiring but he’s been pretty good all year. He has five other performances where he finished 11th through 13th including a 12th place run at Auto Club and an 11th place at the smaller but still similar track of Kansas. He showed plenty of speed at both tracks qualifying on pole in California and 4th in Kansas which like last week, would send these odds well below even money. He’s figuring things out as the season progresses and has finished eight of his last ten races in 13th or better heading into Sunday. Better grab these odds now before another likely quality practice/qualifying session pushes them far shorter.
Outright: Kyle Larson +700
He isn’t the same driver as last season but Michigan might be the cure. Among active drivers, Larson has more wins (3) than everyone except Kevin Harvick here in Michigan. He led 70 laps and finished 3rd during last season’s race which marked his 2nd straight 3rd place finish here.
This season, Larson picked up his 2nd career win at Michigan’s most similar track Auto Club, getting better as the race went on and leading 28 laps during it. At Kansas, Larson was really good too qualifying 3rd, leading 29 laps, and finishing 2nd.
The wins may not be there for last’s season’s champion but he’s still running at the front pretty consistently. He’s led 18 or more laps in 10 races this year and proof that wins are simply hard to come by are his NINE Top 5’s which are the 2nd most on the season. He’s still one of the best drivers out there and with a good qualifying effort, should see his odds move slightly shorter.
Firekeepers Casino 400 Best Bet: Kevin Harvick Top 10 -110
Are you kidding me with these odds?! KV has the most wins among all active drivers at Michigan with 4. He’s finished outside the Top 10 just ONCE over the last ten combined races at Michigan and Auto Club. that one finish was still a 14th place day. The old man figured out his way to a 7th place finish at Auto Club this year after starting 32nd.
Lastly, he’s one of the most consistent drivers on the roster who prior to the last two races, had only ONE finish worse than 15th and Eight Top 10s over the last eleven events. Harvick is just too good in Michigan to avoid a number this close to even.
