Picks and previews for Sunday’s Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Playoffs

What a day of hockey we got yesterday, three Game 7s all coming down to the final minutes. The curse lives on for the Leafs, the Canes finally got by the Bruins, and Connor McDavid powered his team past the Kings. Two more Game 7s tonight, both series have been wildly entertaining. Penguins vs Rangers at Madison Square Garden gets going in the first matchup then Stars vs Flames is your nightcap. I’m back on FanDuel for my lines tonight, if you haven’t signed up with them yet you can do so HERE and get a risk free bet up to $1,000, but also get a FREE subscription to Betsperts Golf up until Thursday. Onto the picks.

Jeff Carter Over 0.5 Points vs Rangers (+124)

The Rangers have all the momentum in this series coming back to win two straight and force a Game 7 at home, but Pittsburgh looks like they’ll have Sidney Crosby back and Tristan Jarry in net, so they’ll have some internal momentum there as well. I honestly have no idea what to expect tonight or who’s going to come out on top, both teams are capable of taking over. Jeff Carter though has earned a reputation as a big time performer in Game 7s. He has 4 points (2 G, 2A) in 5 career Game 7s and his teams are 5-0 in them. I’m not at the point where I’m going to grab the Penguins ML (they’re slight underdogs at +106), but +124 for Carter to record a point in a Game 7 where he’s been so successful in his career is too good for me to pass up.

Joe Pavelski Over 2.5 Shots on Goal vs Flames (+104)

Another game that’s wildly unpredictable. It’s been a fun, competitive series especially the last few games. The books have the Flames as heavy favorites at home with a ML hovering around -225, but the Stars have been very competitive in all 3 games so far in Calgary. They have, however, struggled to score in Calgary netting just 3 total goals in 3 games on the road this series. I’m going to go a similar route to my Penguins/Rangers pick. Taking an experienced player who’s playing good hockey and is no stranger to Game 7s to have a good night. Pavelski has 15 shots on goal in this series, so averaging right at 2.5 a game, but he had 9 total in Games 5 & 6. I’ll happily take the proven Game 7 veteran to get his looks tonight at plus money.
