Picks and preview for Tuesday’s Stanley Cup Playoff slate

The Avs pulled off the sweep last night, so my hedge on Nashville was unnecessary but I’ll live with that. The Avs continued their dominance over the Juuse Saros-less Preds and will take on the winner of the Wild/Blues series after what will be a week off. The Panthers dominated play against the Caps but still needed overtime to even the series there at 2-2. The -1.5 series parlay (Avs -1.5, Canes -1.5, Panthers -1.5, Flames -1.5) still lives, but we need Carolina to hold serve at home against Boston tonight. Back on FanDuel for my lines tonight. Hurricanes Team Total Over 3.5 (+136) vs Bruins

The first of two team total overs tonight. This series has really been controlled by home teams so far. Winning teams in this series have scored Over 3.5 goals in all 4 matchups so far. I like the Canes to win tonight and hold serve at home, but there’s really not much value on their ML and I really hate taking pucklines in the playoffs even though each game in this series has been decided by 2+ goals. Taking the Canes team total Over 3.5 is really more of a way to try and find some value on them winning. If they get to 4 goals, I think they win. Charlie McAvoy is still out for Boston, Hampus Lindholm’s status is questionable. Without at least one of your top 2 defensemen on the road in the playoffs isn’t ideal for the B’s.

Wild Team Total Over 3.5 (+108) vs Blues

Similar strategy in this one to the Canes/Bruins bet. Again, here I’m trying to find some value on the Wild ML. This has been such a weird series. 4 games, 4 blowouts, 2-2 series score. Coming back home for Game 5 gives the Wild an edge. I think they have the edge in net with Marc-Andre Fleury over the tandem of Jordan Binnington and Ville Husso. Even in the loss on Sunday, Minnesota played fine and had their chances in the 3rd Period. This has been a physical series and always will be between these two teams. The better special teams performance probably wins this one. The winning team has scored 4+ goals in each game this series, I like the Wild to win tonight. Let’s take some value.
