The Super Bowl is great because it has the most robust menu of things you can bet on in sports and that certainly drives interest for a portion of the audience. One of the most fun angles, in my opinion, is cross sport props. Over at DraftKings Sportsbook they have Super Bowl cross sport specials where you can bet on NFL vs NBA, UFC, NHL and Soccer bets. I’ll leave hockey out of this piece because I don’t know much about hockey handicapping, but we’ll take a crack at the other three. If you like any of these bets and are a new user go sign up at DraftKings and get a deposit bonus up to $1000.

Adesanya vs Whittaker Total Rounds +180
Super Bowl 56 Total Touchdowns -165
The main event of UFC 271 features a Middleweight title fight between the champion Israel Adesanya against the challenger Robert Whittaker. It’s a rematch of a fight from 2019 that Adesanya won by second round knockout. Adesanya has never lost at Middleweight, his only loss was a decision in his Light Heavyweight debut against champion Jan Blachowicz. Whittaker’s only loss since June 2014 was to Adesanya, he’s won his other 12 fights in that time period. Adesanya is the best Middleweight in the world by a wide margin, but seven of his 11 UFC fights have gone the distance. The round line for the fight is set at over/under 4.5 and Adesanya to win by decision has the shortest odds of all the potential outcomes, but that said it feels like the path to the Super Bowl having fewer touchdowns than the fight has rounds seems pretty narrow. If you bet on a defensive player to win MVP, though, you may want to consider the +180 here. Otherwise roll with the -165.
Pick: Super Bowl 56 Total Touchdowns -165

Cooper Kupp Receiving Yards -115
Atlanta Hawks Total Points -105
Cooper Kupp’s receiving yards total is set at 105.5 at DraftKings right now and honestly that feels a little bit low to me. I think Matthew Stafford is going to look to keep that connection going strong so I’d expect Kupp to go over that number. There aren’t totals out for the Hawks-Celtics game yet since both teams play Friday night before a weird 2pm start time in Boston. The Hawks have played three Sunday road games this year and scored under 100 points in two of them. The other was a short road trip to Charlotte. The Celtics have the best defensive rating in the NBA since January 1st so even though the Hawks have been one of the better offensive teams in the league this year, I’d expect them to have a harder time scoring than normal so I’d take Kupp here. That said, if you think Kupp is going to struggle in the game you should play the Hawks here at -105 instead of playing the Kupp under 105.5 which is -115.
Pick: Kupp Receiving Yards -115

Total Premier League Goals Sunday -145
Mixon and Chase Combined Receptions +150
Soccer, a grand salami and the Super Bowl all rolled into one? That’s a perfect bet specifically catered to my sporting interest. There are four Premier League games on Sunday: Liverpool at Burnley, Aston Villa at Newcastle, Wolves at Tottenham and West Ham at Leicester City. The slate features five of the top 11 scoring teams in the league. It also features six of the top 11 defensive teams in the league. The most reliable projections I’ve seen have Joe Mixon getting four receptions and Ja’Marr Chase getting six receptions, so setting the baseline number for 10 at each, what’s the fair expectation for there to be more than 10 goals scored across four Premier League games? Liverpool would probably be a popular pick to put up some goals, but Burnley has been stingy defensively at home giving up more than one goal at home just once this season in league games. Liverpool will continue to strengthen though, as Sadio Mane is expected to return from his AFCON triumph with Senegal and join Mo Salah who came off the bench against Leicester on Thursday. Speaking of Liverpool tangentially, the game where there should be some scoring is the Aston Villa-Newcastle game where former Liverpool player Phillipe Coutinho has been in fine form early in his Villa career with two goals and two assists in three matches. Newcastle’s defense is leaky home and away so we could see some fireworks there. If you like the Bengals in the game this is a spot to consider taking the +150, but I’m going with the goal scoring.
Pick: Total Premier League Goals Sunday -145 (also maybe tie +900 for fun?)
