We’re still on fire! Last time out, we went 2-1 on our MLB picks with both the Mets and Braves covering their 1.5 run lines. The overall MLB record has been extended to 11-6-1 on the season so after a few days off, let’s get back at it. I found two bets I’m attacking at Fanduel Sportsbook. Here are my MLB Best Bets for Thursday, May 5th.
MLB Best Bets – Thursday, May 5th
Nationals at Rockies – Over 11 runs (-108)
This game is set up to be a shoot-out. The Nationals have scored 10+ runs in three of their last five games. Starter Aaron Sanchez has allowed 12 hits and 7 ER in his two starts this year. The Rockies are one of the league’s top-scoring teams at over 4.5 runs/gm. Their starter Antonio Senzatela is teeing the ball up for opponents allowing 33 hits in just 19.2 innings. Both teams rank top 5 so far in team batting average and they’re the bottom two teams in hits allowed. Expect a ton of base runners early here and plenty of guys to cross home plate.
1st Half (first 5 innings) – Phillies -0.5 (-110) vs. Mets
The Mets are tied with the crosstown rival Yankees with 18 wins and they’ve won four of six against the Phillies. As a matter of fact, one of our hits last time out was these Mets against today’s Philadelphia starter Aaron Nola. He only allowed 3 runs and none until the fifth inning in that game but the Phillies just aren’t scoring for him. Nola has received just ONE run of support over his last three starts. Why am I picking the fighting Phils then? Well, their offense is top 10 in the league scoring 4.44 runs/gm. They scored 4+ in seven of the last eight prior to yesterday, and this will be the third facing Taijuan Walker this season. Simply put, Philly is due against him and they’ll eventually back Nola with some runs… right?!
