Circa Sports announced on Monday along with Full House Resorts an agreement that will see the Las Vegas-based sportsbook enter the Illinois sports betting scene through the New American Place casino to be built in Waukegan, Illinois. Circa currently operates in Iowa, Colorado, and Nevada.

Full House announced that Circa will operate its retail sportsbook at first in a temporary location that will open later this year and will eventually operate as a mobile gaming platform. Full House’s temporary location, “The Temporary American Place” is expected to open this fall and to be open 1-2 years before the permanent venue is completed. The temporary casino is expected to have 1,000 slots, 50 gaming tables and the Circa Sportsbook. The permanent sportsbook will close to double those totals as well has have a 1,500 seat indoor venue and the sportsbook.

Since March of 2020 when it began taking bets, Illinois has generated $11 Billion in sports betting handle and reported a record of $971 million this March. Currently there are seven brick-and-mortar sportsbook locations in Illinois, two OTBs plus two horse tracks that accept bets. While mobile wagering accounts for over 95% of sports wagering in Illinois, the brick-and-mortar option is still in demand reaching what was a record $43.7 million in March.
