Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Top MLB Prop Bets for September 2nd

Xander Bogaerts high-fives teammates after scoring a run

It was a 2-0 card for the baseball bettors last night! We had to sweat it out but Johnny Cueto did his thing for the White Sox, holding KC to just one run through five innings. And Shane Bieber tied his season high in strikeouts with 11, cruising past his K prop of just 6.5. Onto today’s slate where we have a full lineup of games, including some big divisional matchups. We shopped the MLB prop market and are headed to BetMGM for our game props and found the best player props odds over at DraftKings. We hope you have a great holiday weekend, here are our Brian and I’s top MLB prop bets for September 2nd.

Top MLB Prop Bets for September 2nd

Red Sox Team Total Over 5.5 (+105)

While Boston’s offense has been fine over their last few games, this pick is really more of a fade of Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel was DFA’d by the White Sox earlier this season and has bounced around a few clubs now pitching for the Rangers. The veteran lefty has started 13 games this season and owns an ERA of 8.84.

He’s allowed 6+ ER in 5 of his last 8 starts, and in the other 3 starts he’s allowed 3 ER, 4 ER and 4 ER. If he doesn’t straight up allow the 6 runs on his own, he’ll likely put Boston in a position to get there whenever he hands things over to the bullpen. The Red Sox have also gone over the 5.5 total in their last two games.

White Sox vs Twins Over 8 (-115)

Two teams both in need of a win as the AL Central race comes down to the final weeks of the season. We also have two offenses who seem to be finding their groove at the right time. While both lineups are a bit banged up (as they have been all season), that hasn’t really mattered the last few nights. The Twins are averaging just under 7 runs per game over their last 4 outings and the White Sox in their last series vs Kansas City found the long ball and averaged 6 runs per game in that series.

Davis Martin has been a spot starter for the Sox this season and he’s got an ERA in the mid 4.00s. Sonny Gray goes for Minnesota, he’s 7-4 with a 3.04 ERA on the season, though in Gray’s one start against the Sox this season he got hit around to the tune of 6 ER through 3.2 IP. Let’s see if going back to the pale hose benefits our top MLB prop bets for September 2nd.

Xander Bogaerts Single (-135) Bet 3u to win 2.22u & RBI (+160) Bet 1u to win 1.6u

The Red Sox exploded for 9 runs yesterday against the Rangers and Xander was a major contributor going 2-for-5 and scoring 3 times. He’s now recorded multiple hits in five straight and in 7 of his last 8 games. Dallas Keuchel starts for Texas tonight who Bogaerts has excellent numbers against, and who he’s 2-for-5 with both hits being singles, off already this season.

Keuchel is allowing over 1.5 H/IP this year and has given up 6+ runs in 5 of his last 7 starts. Xander has 144 hits on the season, and 98 of them, accounting for 68% of all his hits, are singles. The Red Sox should clog the base paths and I expect Bogaerts to be a major catalyst to another offensive explosion. Both of us really like Boston’s offense tonight which is why they’re featured prominently on our list of top MLB prop bets for September 2nd.
