Just three more days left in the regular season, and not much left to play for in terms of the playoff race. The Wild Card games begin on October 7th, so while the Wild Card teams might not have anything left to play for in terms of standings, those teams will want to stay sharp ahead of those series. Top MLB Prop Bets for October 3rd
Brewers -1.5 (-108, FanDuel) vs Diamondbacks
The Brewers playoff chances look SLIM, but they’re not quite dead yet. The Phillies magic number to clinch that last Wild Card spot is just 1, so a Brewers loss or Phillies win gets the job done. The Phillies though go to Houston who does have everything clinched, but still is a very dangerous team. The Brewers have a three game series at home against the Diamondbacks, and they have one of their best pitchers on the mound today in Brandon Woodruff.
While the Brewers have struggled down the stretch, Woodruff most certainly has not. He’s had quality starts in each of his last 5 outings and in those outings he’s allowed just 5 ER and racked up double digit strikeouts in 4 of the 5. Arizona throws Tommy Henry tonight and he’s been really bad all season. The playoff hopes might be slim, but I think Woodruff does his part to try and keep them alive tonight.
Vladimir Guerrero Hit (-220, FanDuel)
Vladdy Jr. may not be having the ridiculous offensive season like he had in 2021, but he’s still crushing. Guerrero has 172 hits, 31 bombs, and has recorded at least one hit in 22 of his last 30 games. He’s still batting .273 on the season and gets a matchup against quite possibly his favorite opponent to hit off, the Baltimore Orioles tonight.
Vlad has loved facing the O’s over his short career batting .331 with 21 four baggers and 83 total hits over 61 games. His dominance against them has continued in 2022 with a .319 average with 22 hits and 5 HR over 16 games. Baltimore throws Dean Kremer tonight who Guerrero has homered off 3 times and is 5-for-13 against over the last two seasons.
Any recent struggles that Vladdy has endured (.225 BA since September) should evaporate tonight and I want some exposure to it. He was an easy add to the Top MLB Prop Bets for October 3rd so let’s hope he doesn’t disappoint.
Note: I’ll also be betting Aaron Judge HR (+250, FanDuel) as he has to get no. 62 before the season ends… right?
