Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Top MLB Prop Bets for August 29th

The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrate a win in Miami over the Marlins

Just over a month left to play in the MLB regular season, hard to believe that baseball season has flown by so fast! We have ourselves a very limited slate of baseball games today, and the games we do have don’t have many aces on the mound or many possible playoff matchups. That said, there are still games being played which means there are still bets to be made. Myself and Brian Twining shopped the MLB market on FanDuel and found our favorite bets for today. Check out our top MLB prop bets for August 29th.

Favorites Parlay (+103): Dodgers ML (-230) & Cardinals ML (-240)

This is one of my favorite ways to bet baseball, especially when there’s not a very big slate or a ton of value on the board. The first matchup is a pretty lopsided one on paper with the Dodgers (88-38) visiting the Marlins (55-72). Really thought the Dodgers would have had a ML closer to -275 or so, but the pitching matchup is a fairly good one. It’s Tony Gonsolin going up against Pablo Lopez tonight in Miami.

After a slow-ish start out of the gate after the All-Star break, Gonsolin has been lights out in August so far. In 4 starts so far this month, Gonsolin has allowed just 2 ER in 23.2 IP and has surrendered just 10 Hits in that time. Lopez has had a good season, but an opposite August to Gonsolin. He shut down the A’s in his last start, but prior to that he allowed 18 runs in 4 starts.

In our second matchup, we have a game as lopsided as the first with the Cardinals coming in as even heavier favorites. The Reds have been brutal this year and throw Chase Anderson who will see his first MLB action of 2022. In 9 starts in 2022 with the Phillies he was just 2-4 with a 6.75 ERA. The always steady Miles Mikolas throws for St. Louis. Mikolas recorded 4 quality starts in 5 August outings.

The Cardinals are also coming off an impressive series win in Atlanta where it’s been really tough for anyone to win since the All-Star break. On paper, this should be an easy win for St. Louis. Some really good value on this favorites parlay.

Aaron Judge Hit (-230) Bet 5u to win 2.15u & HR (+240) Bet 2u to win 4.80u

Here comes the Judge! Aaron is putting up historic numbers this season and is due to come through tonight. He went hitless during the final two games in Oakland which is actually a good thing for these bets.

On the year, Judge hasn’t recorded a single, NOT ONE, 3-games or more hitless streak. More amazingly, he’s hit a HR in three of the six games following 2-game hitless streaks so far this season. He’ll face Angels starter Jose Suarez who has allowed just 10 homers on the year, but 9 have come by RHB.

Judge had great numbers in Anaheim last season and all signs point to him slamming down the gavel in the series’ first game. Oh, I’ll also be attending the game so of course, I wanna see him go yard, haha.

Carlos Rodon Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-130) Bet 5u to win 3.85u

San Francisco is known for being tied to the gold rush and I feel like I’m striking gold with this prop. Rodon has struck out 7 or more batters in NINE of his last ten starts and in seventeen of his twenty-five on the year. He’s starting against a Padres team struggling to find consistency on offense and who he K’d a season-high 12 times during his only complete game on the year back in July.

Carlos is also pitching much better at home than on the road this season. He’s sporting an ERA of just 1.86 vs. 3.52 on the road. And he has a K/9 of 13 while wearing the home uniform as opposed to 10.5 on the road. This number will likely be steamed up pretty quickly as we approach first pitch, so I’m more than happy to hammer this.
