Picking MLB games is a complex and tiring task with shaky bullpens, weird extra inning rules, and the natural state of the game. One way to attack the sport and have fun while you’re at it, is by betting MLB player props. Luis Castillo Over 5.5 K’s (-130, PointsBet) Bet 1.5u to win 1.16u
Castillo will be making his Seattle Mariners debut today against the Yankees but don’t afraid to back the righty. He shut down New York back on July 14th going 7-innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 run. Prior to being traded to Seattle, Luis was fantastic to end his tenure as a Red going 6+ innings in nine of his last ten starts. He also struck out 6 or more hitters in nine of his last ten with Cincinnati. The Yankees may have a dangerous offense but are susceptible to the strikeout. Castillo already proved his prowess against this lineup and he won’t have to face Aaron Judge who’s getting the day off.
Starling Marte Over 0.5 Runs (-135, DraftKings) Bet 2u to win 1.48u
There aren’t many hitters hotter than Starling Marte. Since the beginning of July, Marte is hitting .365, with an OBP of .415, and has scored 10 runs. Today he and the Mets go up against Anibal Sanchez (I almost feel bad for attacking him… again!) who simply is not good. Sanchez has now allowed 3+ runs in all three of his starts and a total of 13 runs this year. As I’ve written about before, the Nats are allowing the most runs/gm and have the league’s worst team ERA. The Mets scored just 1 run yesterday but have already scored 66 runs in 12 games against the Nationals. Look for Marte wreak havoc in the batter’s box, on the base paths, and in the box against the floundering Nats.
