MLB Player Props: Best Baseball Player Props for August 19th

Jose Ramirez hits an RBI single against Detroit

Picking MLB games is a complex and tiring task with shaky bullpens, weird extra inning rules, and the natural state of the game. One of the best ways to attack the sport and have fun in the process, is by betting MLB player props. We wound up going 1-1 yesterday but still netted .02 units (haha) keeping us at over +3 units for the week. It’s a loaded Friday of games and I’m hoping to grow the profits even more. Here are my choices for the Best Baseball Player Props for August 19th.

Best Baseball Player Props for August 19th

Jose Ramirez Hit (-195, PointsBet) Bet 5u win 2.56u

JRam is one of baseball’s best hitters and the fact this number is so low, astounds me. He is a hit machine and currently ranks just outside the top 10 in total hits on the season with 123. He’s hit safely in 12 of the 17 games this month and in almost in almost 75% of his games since the beginning of June.

Tonight Ramirez and the Guardians get Lance Lynn of the White Sox who Jose has destroyed the last few years. He’s 2-for-6 off him this year, and 8-for-21 with a couple of HR facing Lynn since 2019. JRam is as sure a thing to get a hit as we have in baseball and his number is -225 or shorter at other sportsbooks. This was definitely finding its way onto my list of Best Baseball Player Props for August 19th.

Lance McCullers Under 5.5 Strikeouts (EVEN, PointsBet) Bet 2u win 2u

McCullers made his 2022 debut last Saturday against Oakland going 6 innings, allowing no runs and striking out 5. He threw 81 pitches and in line with his historical numbers, only 58% were strikes. Tonight he’s facing a much tougher test in the Atlanta Braves, who have won nine of their last ten games.

Atlanta is scoring the 3rd most runs/game at 4.88 and has a top 10 team batting average. The Braves have struck out the 2nd most times this year, but playing in a division against the Mets, Phillies, and Marlins pitching staffs, a high strikeout rate isn’t unexpected. McCullers went over this prop in 19 of his 28 starts last season, but that was when fully healthy and completely stretched out. The Braves can hang a crooked number quickly and make any caliper of pitcher look pedestrian so I’ll gladly take the juice on the under.
