Picking MLB games is a complex and tiring task with shaky bullpens, weird extra inning rules, and the natural state of the game. One way to attack the sport and have fun while you’re at it, is by betting MLB player props. We gained a little ground yesterday and are almost back into the green for the week. It’s a hump day full of day baseball so I went shopping for some matinee plays. Let’s get out of the hole with my choices for the Best Baseball Player Props for August 17th.

Best Baseball Player Props for August 17th
Carlos Correa Hit (-220, Fanduel) Bet 5u win 2.27u
The Twins’ shortstop is heating up. Since August 1st, he’s batting over .300, has 14 hits, and has hit safely in 11 of 14 games this month. His got streak should continue this afternoon against the Royals who Carlos is hitting .338 against since last season.
Correa is batting .292 with 14 hits in the 12 games against KC this season but he has especially feasted on today’s starter Daniel Lynch. He’s 4-for-8 off him this year and 6-for-14 against in his career. The SS has a hit in 10 of the 11 games he’s been in the starting lineup against the Royals in 2022 and I’m very confident he’ll make 11 or 12 today.
George Kirby Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-112, Fanduel) Bet 1u win .89u
Kirby has been pretty darn good since returning to the rotation back on July 28th against the Rangers. He threw just 51 pitches but went five shut out innings, allowing only 2 hits, and striking out 4 during that start. He’s getting stretched back out, throwing an average of 79 pitches while also striking out 7, 8, and 5 batters over his last three starts respectively.
Today he gets a lifeless Angels team who ranks near or at the bottom of almost every offensive category. Most importantly for today’s prop, Anaheim (yes, I still call them that), is the easiest team in baseball to strikeout this year, doing so over 40 times more than the second worst team.

Juan Soto Hit (-173, Caesars) Bet 3u to win 1.74u & HR (+625, Caesars) Bet 1u to win 6.25u
He’s been everything the Padres could have hoped for since acquiring him and his presence has become even more important with Tatis Jr. getting suspended. Soto has been on a tear with San Diego, hitting safely in 11 of 13 games, and batting .319 since joining the club. He’s also been a bit of a Marlins angler over his career.
Despite Juan’s struggles against them this season, he’s still recorded at least one hit in 27 of 41 games against Miami since 2020. He’s hitless in his last 6 ABs against Pablo Lopez but was 8-for-17 off him from 2018 to 2020 with 2 HR mixed in there.
Soto hasn’t rounded the bases as often as we expected this year and he’s only hit one dinger with San Diego. Considering his past successes against Miami, Lopez, and ultimately due to go yard, this number for a HR is far too long to pass up. Sometimes you have to just bet the number and that’s one of the reasons why both of these Juan Soto props are part of my Best Baseball Player Props for August 17th.
