MLB Best Bets: Baseball Picks for August 8th

YankeesFrustrated Betsperts Media & Technology

We have a whole lot of late night action on tonight’s MLB slate. Four of the seven games get going at 9:40 ET or later and only two begin before 8:00pm ET. So let’s get a pot of coffee on and maybe a little something extra to pour in it and sweat some baseball bets out. It isn’t the best of lineups tonight and not many aces take the mound, but still plenty of spots to try and find an advantage. I’m back on BetMGM for my bets tonight. If you haven’t signed up with them yet you can do so below and get a risk-free first bet up to $1,000 when you make your initial deposit. Onto the bets.

Athletics 1st Half Result (+115) vs Angels

Battle of the basement dwellers in the A.L. West tonight as the Angels visit Oakland. These two just played a three-game set in Anaheim last week where Oakland took 2 of 3. Two southpaws on the mound tonight with Jose Suarez throwing for the Angels and Cole Irvin throwing for the A’s. Irvin is having himself a really good season with a 3.04 ERA and a WHIP inching closer to 1.00 sitting at 1.06 headed into tonight. He hasn’t allowed more than 2 ER in each of his last six starts. He’s gone 6.0+ innings in each of his last 7 starts. He was good in his last start against the Angels but just got no run support. No Trout in the lineup for the Angels as he’s still on the IL. Give me Oakland’s result early with big edge on the mound.

Mariners ML (+100) & vs Yankees & Over 7.5 (-114)

The Yankees are struggling having lost 5 games in a row including two matchups at home to these very Mariners and a sweep on the road at St. Louis. Now they make the long flight from St. Louis to Seattle and have to gear up to take on Logan Gilbert who’s having himself a very good season. Jameson Taillon is on the mound for the Yankees, he started against Seattle last week and got shelled allowing 5 ER in 4.2 IP. Logan Gilbert was even worse allowing 6 ER through 5.1 IP including 3 Home Runs. I like the value on the Mariners ML a lot with a struggling Yankees team. The 7.5 doesn’t seem like a reach after the 14 combined runs scored in this pitching matchup last week and at -114 I like that value as well.
