Top MLB Prop Bets for October 21st
Phillies Team Total Over 3.5 (-104, FanDuel)
As this series shifts back to Philadelphia, I’m looking for the Phillies to grab momentum early in this one in front of what should be a rowdy crowd at Citizens Bank Park. The Padres have been good on the road so far in these playoffs, and Joe Musgrove has been good too, but the Phillies in two games at home have hit the cover off the ball. In their two home games in the NLDS against the Braves, Philly scored 9 and 8 runs and hit a combined 5 Home Runs. The Phillies have so much power potential in that lineup, and if they can get things going early I think they cruise to the Team Total Over 3.5.
Manny Machado Over 0.5 Hits (-205, DraftKings)
Machado had an MVP type season for the Padres and has continued to rake in the MLB Playoffs. Through nine games, he’s hitting .306 with 3 HR and 6 RBI and having hit safely in six of the nine games. Manny is coming off a 3 hit performance in game 2, and faces Phillies starter Ranger Suarez who is allowing 9.4 H/9.
Suarez pitched well this year but his BAA splits are worse at home (.272) vs. away (.232) and against RHB (.263) vs. LHB (.197). Ranger lasted just 3.1 innings in his NLDS start against Atlanta allowing 3 hits and walking 5 while also ending the season surrendering 5+ hits in three straight outings. The stars are aligned for Manny to show up big in Philly and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add him as one of our Top MLB Prop Bets for October 21st.
Phillies vs. Padres F5 Over 3.5 Runs (-120, BetMGM)
Piggy-backing off everything I just said about Machado against Suarez, and riding with some early runs tonights. Suarez is probably the easiest matchup San Diego has faced in regards to starting pitching this postseason, and as good as Joe Musgrove has looked lately, did get bombed against the Phillies back in June giving up 6 runs in 6-innings.
Outside of game 1 of the NLCS, both of these teams have been lighting up the scoreboard with San Diego scored 5+ runs in five of their nine playoffs games and Philadelphia doing so in five of their eight.
Regardless of whether those runs have come early or late, it’s clear both of these offenses are literally hitting on all cylinders right now and expecting them not to score is just silly. Other books have this number posted at 4 or 4.5 so I’m really happy to add this as one of our Top MLB Prop Bets for October 21st.
