After a fun weekend of baseball where we saw the Padres exercise their demons against the arch rival Dodgers and the Astros eliminating the Mariners with an 18-inning thriller, we have just one game remaining in the Divisional round. The Yankees and Guardians face off in the Bronx for a spot in the ALCS and we found our favorite plays for the game. Top MLB Prop Bets for October 17th
Guardians vs Yankees 1st 5 Innings Over 4.0 (+100, Caesars)
What a fun series this has been so far, and really one that feels like it was destined for 5 games. I wanted to go with an over for the game in this one, but 7.5 is a little high and the series has had just one game go over 7.5.
The 1st 5 Inning over 4.0 was my way of fading the starting pitching matchup. Aaron Civale for Cleveland opposes Jameson Taillon of the Yankees. Taillon had one appearance in the series where he failed to record an out and allowed 2 ER, his last start against the Rangers he allowed 4 ER. Aaron Civale has been better in the second half of the season than the first half, but he’s still been just ok owning an ERA of close to 5.00.
The over 4.0 for the 1st 5 Innings has hit in the last 3 games of the series, Yankee Stadium is a hitters park, and the pitching matchup leaves a lot to be desired. Let’s hope for some runs early and often that way our Top MLB Prop Bets for October 17th get off to a hot start.
Aaron Judge HR (+250, FanDuel)
The big man has looked much more comfortable the last two games in Cleveland. He smashed a 450 foot bomb in game 3, and just missed another dinger in game 5. He’s clearly seeing the ball a bit better, and his timing is almost back.
Tonight he and the Yankees see Aaron Civale to begin the game and the crushed him this season. Civale made 2 starts against New York and over 9 combined innings allowed 11 Hits, 6 HR, and 11 total ER during them. Judge is just 3-for-13 over his career against him but all 3 of those hits are for extra bases with one being a HR that came this season.
Aaron is always a threat to go yard and we’ve seen him show up big in big games before. The number is longer here than at any other sportsbook and definitely worth adding to your card and as one of our Top MLB Prop Bets for October 17th.
